CBUSU Drive Home Policy
CBUSU Drive Home Program’s (DHP) goal is to provide a “no-charge” safe and alternate drive home for students who remain on campus for studying during those hours where regular CBRM Transit is restricted.
- CBUSU Drive Home Program is only available for those CBUSU students who are registered via the online registration platform. This list will be reset on April 30th, 2024.
- CBUSU Drive Home Program is only available for currently registered CBU students; friends and family members or CBU Staff are not eligible.
- All passengers must have a valid CBU Student ID.
- Drive home is not guaranteed and operates on a first come first booked basis.
- No smoking or alcohol allowed in the van.
- Passengers are not permitted to have open food or drink in the van.
- Passengers must wear seatbelts at all times while in the van.
- CBUSU Drive “U” Home Program does not do drop-offs at liquor stores, bars, or restaurants. Drive to home addresses only.
- Passengers are not permitted to transport alcohol in the van.
- Passengers with bags/backpacks are permitted as long as they do not interfere with other passengers’ safety or comfort.
- Intoxicated passengers will not be permitted in the van.
- CBUSU Drive Home Program does not operate when CBU is closed for holidays, inclement weather, etc. and does not guarantee or provide alternate transportation.
- CBUSU Drive Home Program operates under the CBU Respectful Campus Policy. Acts of aggression, intimidation, or harassment will not be tolerated. Those who act in such a manner will not be eligible for the CBUSU Drive Home Program and such behavior will be reported.
ASSUMPTION OF RISKS
I acknowledge and understand that my participation in the CBUSU Drive Home Program is not mandatory. Participation in the CBUSU Drive Home Program involves transportation in CBUSU vehicles and vehicles driven by CBUSU employees or volunteers, and involves risk of damage to, or loss of, personal property or bodily injury, and social and economic losses, which might result not only from my or the Participant's actions, inactions or negligence, but the actions, inactions or negligence of others, including other Event participants and the employees Cape Breton University Students’ Union, and I further acknowledge that there may be other risks not known or not reasonably foreseeable as at the date of this acknowledgement of this Agreement (collectively, the "Risks").
I understand that the Risks simply cannot be eliminated and that I may choose not to participate in the CBUSU Drive Home Program.
I WAIVE ANY AND ALL CLAIMS that I have or may in the future have against the Releasees and to release the Releasees from any and all liability for any loss, damage, expense or injury including death that I may suffer or that my next of kin may suffer as a result of my participation in the CBUSU Drive Home Program, DUE TO ANY CAUSE WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE, BREACH OF CONTRACT, OR BREACH OF ANY STATUOTRY OR OTHER DUTY OF CARE ON THE PART OF THE RELEASEES. I UNDERSTAND THAT NEGLIGENCE INCLUDES FAILURE ON THE PART OF THE RELEASEES TO TAKE REASONABLE STEPS TO SAFEGUARD OR PROTECT ME FROM THE RISKS, DANGERS AND HAZARDS OF THE EVENT REFERRED TO ABOVE.
